There were seven Covid-related fatalities in Meghalaya today, as well as 265 new cases and 332 recoveries.
East Khasi Hills recorded six fatalities and West Khasi Hills one. Four of the seven were among unvaccinated people, the Health Department informed. All seven either died at home, were brought dead to hospital or expired soon after being admitted.
East Khasi Hills recorded 116 new cases today, Ri-Bhoi 49, West Khasi Hills 33, West Jaintia Hills 28, South West Khasi Hills 18, East Jaintia Hills 10 and 11 among the other five districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 199 recoveries, Ri-Bhoi 50, West Khasi Hills 18, South West Khasi Hills 16, West Jaintia Hills 16, West Garo Hills 15, South Garo Hills 11 and seven among the other four districts.
There are now 2,636 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,363 active cases, Ri-Bhoi 360, West Khasi Hills 355, West Jaintia Hills 208, South West Khasi Hills 140, West Garo Hills 106, East Jaintia Hills 31, South West Garo Hills 23, North Garo Hills 21, East Garo Hills 17 and South Garo Hills 12.
In all, Meghalaya has had 75,601 Covid-19 cases, of which 2,636 are active, 71,659 have recovered and 1,306 have died from the virus. The recovery rate increased to 94.79 percent. The fatality rate went back up to 1.73 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases declined to 262.29 and dropped for new deaths to 4.00.
