The seven-day average of new Covid-19 cases in Meghalaya fell to a new low today, 195.86, the first time this measure has been lower than 200 since May 1.
Statewide there were 191 new infections today, 228 recoveries and four fatalities.
Two of the deaths were in East Khasi Hills, one in West Jaiñtia Hills and one in West Khasi Hills. Three of the four were unvaccinated people, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 89 new cases today, Ri-Bhoi 28, West Khasi Hills 25, South West Khasi Hills 18, West Jaiñtia Hills 17 and 14 between the other six districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 109 recoveries, Ri-Bhoi 46, West Khasi Hills 32, South West Khasi Hills 13, West Garo Hills 10, West Jaiñtia Hills 10 and eight between the other five districts.
There are now 1,888 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 930 active cases, West Khasi Hills 362, Ri-Bhoi 179, West Jaiñtia Hills 155, South West Khasi Hills 114, West Garo Hills 84, East Jaiñtia Hills 34, East Garo Hills 17, North Garo Hills six, South West Garo Hills five and South Garo Hills two.
In all, Meghalaya has had 77,471 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,888 are active, 74,246 have recovered and 1,337 have died from the virus. The recovery rate increased to 95.84 percent. The fatality rate rose back to 1.73 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases fell to 195.86 and stayed level for new deaths at 3.14.
