Meghalaya went past 70,000 total Covid-19 cases today, with a further 463 being reported around the state. There were also 384 recoveries (the lowest single-day figure since July 25) and 10 new fatalities linked to the disease.
Seven deaths today were in East Khasi Hills, two in West Khasi Hills and one in West Jaiñtia Hills. Nine of the 10 were unvaccinated, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 255 new cases today, West Khasi Hills 67, West Garo Hills 40, Ri-Bhoi 28, West Jaiñtia Hills 25, South West Khasi Hills 16, East Jaiñtia Hills 13, South West Garo Hills seven, South Garo Hills seven, North Garo Hills three and East Garo Hills two.
West Khasi Hills accounted for 87 recoveries, West Garo Hills 82, East Khasi Hills 76, Ri-Bhoi 56, West Jaiñtia Hills 39, South West Khasi Hills 14, North Garo Hills 12, South West Garo Hills seven, South Garo Hills six, East Jaiñtia Hills three and East Garo Hills two.
There are now 4,496 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,981 active cases, West Khasi Hills 626, West Garo Hills 524, West Jaiñtia Hills 443, Ri-Bhoi 437, South West Khasi Hills 219, East Jaiñtia Hills 63, East Garo Hills 56, North Garo Hills 54, South West Garo Hills 48 and South Garo Hills 45.
In all, Meghalaya has had 70,232 Covid-19 cases, of which 4,496 are active, 64,541 have recovered and 1,195 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has dipped to 91.90 per cent. The fatality rate stayed level at 1.70 per cent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases dropped to 459.43 and increased for new deaths to 10.00.
