Copper wires were allegedly stolen from inside a power transformer at Lower Lachumiere in the city which resulted in power cut in the area last night.
MeECL authorities informed that miscreants stole 2 kgs of the wires from the transformer located at the locality near the old Sports Council building.
Electricity supply to the whole area went for a toss but was restored today morning at around 7 am.
Rangbah Dong of Upper Lachumiere, Victor Khongmen said homes in Lower Lachaumiere from DIPR office onwards including BSNL GAD quarters and others were left without electricity after the theft.
