Today, media persons asked Sangma whether the UDP would be kicked out of the ruling alliance after the Sohiong Assembly elections. However, he chose to be guarded in his reply.
“We will see and at present it is too early to say anything like that. We can’t jump to any conclusion and so we will wait and watch and at the appropriate time we will decide,” he said.
Sangma who is the national president of NPP did not rubbish speculations that the two HSPDP MLAs are likely to merge with the NPP.
Meanwhile, ahead of the adjourned Sohiong Assembly Constituency election which will be held on May 10, Sangma exuded confidence of grabbing the seat.
According to Sangma, the recent merger of PDF with the NPP has boosted the NPP’s chances of winning Sohiong.
“The people of Sohiong feel that if PDF has merged with NPP so why should they look at other political parties. We are very positive and have been getting good responses. Recently, the merging of PDF with NPP has boosted our party,” he said.
With the recent merger of PDF to NPP, the strength of the NPP has gone up to 28.
There were speculations that if NPP wins the Sohiong Assembly seat one of the UDP cabinet ministers will be replaced by an NPP MLA.
