Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today apprised Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan about the prevailing crisis in North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and urged the minister to intervene in order to end the impasse.
Taking to X, Sangma wrote,” Briefed the Honble Minister of Education @dpradhan BJP on the ongoing situation in NEHU and urged him to find an amicable solution to this issue.”
On November 8, cabinet minister Alexander L. Hek wrote to Pradhan seeking his intervention on the ongoing NEHU imbroglio.
In a letter to the Union minister, Hek also enclosed the letter of the Meghalaya Tribal Teachers’ Association (MeTTA) of NEHU expressing their resentment at the attitude of NEHU vice chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla.
Last week, the NEHU Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) and MeTTA met Meghalaya Governor C H Vijayashankar who is the chief rector of the university demanding his attention and immediate intervention to end the imbroglio.
