The A·chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) has sent a reminder to the Chief Minister regarding the need for greater capacity in Class 11 intake for the 2025-26 academic year in Garo Hills, specifically the Adokgre RMSA Higher Secondary School.
AHAM had sent its original plea on May 1 and there was a positive verbal response by the CM but the pressure group told him in a letter today that there has been no tangible progress on the ground.
Meghalaya’s record breaking pass percentage in the Class 10 board exams this year meant that there was a surge in the number of students entering higher secondary school, chasing after more places than there were vacancies, especially in government and government-aided schools.
AHAM wants a morning shift and increased teacher recruitment to help take in as many students, most of whom are from poorer backgrounds, as possible at Adokgre RMSA HSS.
