A facilitation programme was today held by the Directorate of Housing in the premises of the Meghalaya State Housing Board (MSHB) at Madan Laban to mark the closure of the board, with effect from August 28, 2024.
Last month, the State government had approved the dissolution of the board and decided to offer voluntary retirement scheme to the 18 staff of the independent body.
The board was created in the 1980s to help avail housing loans from various companies.
The ceremony was held to honour the employees of the board who had accepted the VRS.
Addressing the gathering, chairman Damanbait Lamare expressed gratitude to the staff for their dedicated service and acknowledged that some employees had retired or passed away during their tenure. He emphasized that the government has provided a generous financial package through the scheme, ensuring that employees were not left out without support.
During the ceremony, Lamare presented the first installment of cheques to 18 employees who had completed 30 years of service.
The programme was attended by F.M Dopth, Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya Housing Department, T Nongsteng, Accountant, D Nongsiej, S.E., and others.
