Tura MDC and BJP party vice president, Bernard Marak today stated that central schemes in Meghalaya have been misused and did not percolate to the public and this was because they have been turned to “political party’s scheme.”
“The State government has made central schemes into a political party’s scheme giving benefit only to their party men and not to the public in general,” alleged Bernard in a statement today.
He accused the various C&RD Blocks in Garo Hills of refusing to furnish details of information on implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes.
“The BJP government in the Centre has taken laudable steps to avail all kinds of schemes to people of all walks of life but the implementing agencies refuse to furnish detailed information on its implementation,” he said.
He added that RTIs were filed in February and July this year but detailed information was yet to be provided.
“We are getting complaints from all over Garo Hills from unsatisfied beneficiaries on implementation of schemes, not to mention partiality and deprivation of the beneficiaries from availing the benefits. The state government and its machineries should not try to stab the public,” he added.
Bernard felt that the central schemes have to be closely scrutinised by a vigilance team.
