As part of a pre-monsoon review under Jal Shakti Abhiyan–Catch the Rain (JSA-CTR) 2025, a central government official arrived in Ampati, South West Garo Hills, on Monday evening and held a review meeting with district officials.
Devesh Gupta, who has been appointed as the Central Nodal Officer (CNO) for the district, met with Deputy Commissioner Hema Nayak, Additional DC RZD Shira, Block Development Officers and representatives from line departments, including Public Health Engineering (PHE), Water Resources, Soil and Water Conservation, Agriculture and Fisheries.
According to a press release today, the primary objective of the CNO’s visit was to assess the progress of ongoing initiatives under JSA-CTR 2025 and review the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). The discussion focused on inter-departmental coordination, convergence of schemes and field-level interventions aimed at water conservation and management.
On the second day of his visit, Gupta visited several project sites across the three blocks of Betasing, Zikzak and Rerapara. These included JJM sites implemented by PHE, Water Resources and Soil and Water Conservation projects and Amrit Sarovar sites developed under MGNREGA. The field visits provided first-hand insight into the progress, challenges and innovations being undertaken in the district.
Before concluding his three-day visit, the CNO held a final debriefing with the DC, ADC and concerned officials, during which he shared his observations and offered valuable suggestions and inputs to strengthen the implementation of water conservation schemes in the district.
