The Border Security Force (BSF) yesterday thwarted two separate attempts to smuggle cattle and sugar over the international border with Bangladesh.
Based on specific information, BSF troops of the 4th Battalion conducted a special operation near the international border in West Jaintia Hills.
During this operation, the party successfully rescued 13 cattle hidden in a jungle area. The seized cattle were handed over to the concerned police station for further necessary action.
In another operation, troops from the 181st Battalion apprehended three Indian nationals along with sugar meant for smuggling into Bangladesh through the international border in South Garo Hills.
