In an operation yesterday, troops of the BSF Meghalaya successfully intercepted four vehicles carrying a large quantity of sugar intended for smuggling into Bangladesh near the tri-junction at Shnongpdeng under East Khasi Hills.
During the operation, jawans of the 4th Battalion BSF identified and seized four trucks loaded with 15 tonnes of sugar worth over Rs 6 lakhs in the Dawki border area.
The seized sugar and vehicles were handed over to the Customs office in Dawki for further investigation and legal action.
