The BSF Inter-Frontier Judo Cluster Competition hosted by the BSF Meghalaya Frontier concluded at NEHU today.
In Judo, Gujarat lifted the winner’s trophy, Punjab for Wushu while Jammu frontier, which secured the second positions in both Judo and Wushu, secured the first position in Gymnastics. In Taekwondo, South Bengal and Tripura achieved the first and second positions, respectively.
Around 700 sports persons from 11 teams from different BSF Frontiers took part in the tournament.
The closing ceremony was attended by BSF (Eastern Command) Kolkata Additional Director General, Sonali Mishra as the chief guest in the presence of BSF Meghalaya Frontier IG, Pradip Kumar, NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Sukla, Additional Director Sports Authority of India, TS Chavan, senior officers and all ranks of BSF.
Speaking on the occasion, Mishra emphasized the significance of sports in building a robust and healthy society. She said that the BSF has recognized the need to maintain a proper equilibrium between a sound mind and a healthy body to achieve sustained professional efficiency.
She said that such competitions not only showcased physical prowess but also contributed significantly to the mental and emotional well-being of the participants. She also acknowledged the dedication and teamwork of the winners and praised the role of the BSF in safeguarding India’s borders and instilling a culture of sports among the troops.
