Border markets (haats) on the Bangladesh border in East Khasi Hills will reopen from October 1.
This was informed by the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills in an order issued yesterday but shared with the media today. The order comes after permission was granted by the Commerce and Industries Department.
The border haats were closed since the first half of August due to unrest in neighbouring Bangladesh.
