Shillong, May 30: A landmark publication celebrating the extraordinary biodiversity of Meghalaya, titled “Butterflies of Meghalaya”, is set to be unveiled by Governor Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar, at a special ceremony to be held at Lok Bhavan, Shillong on Monday.
The book is regarded as the most comprehensive compilation ever produced on the butterflies of Meghalaya and presents an extensive collection of information on 698 Species of Butterflies found across the State. The publication includes detailed species records, insightful research-based documentation, and captivating photographs, making it an essential reference for researchers, conservationists, nature enthusiasts, and the general public, a statement said.
The book is authored by renowned experts Sanjay Sondhi and Krushnamegh Kunte, and supervised by Additional Chief Secretary HC Chaudhary.
