NEIGRIHMS has informed that one Shanta Bahadur (70) died in the hospital on February 6, 2025 and his body has been kept in the mortuary of the Department of Forensic Medicine since then. Relatives of the deceased have repeatedly been requested to take possession of the body but no one known to him has come forward to claim the remains till date.
Therefore, NEIGRIHMS today announced that if the body continues to remain unclaimed for a further 48 hours, it will be used for academic purposes at the teaching hospital under the terms of the Meghalaya Anatomical Act 2017.
