The family members of two miners from Ri-Bhoi district who died at a coal mine in Tinsukia district of Assam have gone to the site to collect their bodies.
It may be noted that on May 25, Phingal Umbah (24) and John Nongrum (39) from Shnadtyrkhang village were trapped inside an illegal rat-hole coal mine at Patkai Hills of Tinsukia district following a sudden landslide.
Their bodies were discovered yesterday after a long rescue attempt.
Yesterday evening the family members traveled to Tinsukia by ambulance to retrieve the bodies for final rites.
Following formal procedures and postmortem examinations, the bodies were handed over to the family members.
The bodies are expected to arrive in their hometown in Ri-Bhoi tomorrow morning and they will be buried on the same day.
