The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) today located two bodies believed to be those of a father and son, washed away by flood waters on Friday at Dalu Sonagre junction under Barengapara police station, West Garo Hills district.
“The body of an adult male and that of a minor boy was located by the SDRF today in the morning following a search operation which had commenced since yesterday,” an official statement said.
The father was identified as 44-year-old Bijoy S Sangma. His body was recovered from a paddy field at 10:19 am, while the body of his 13-year-old son, Chigado R Marak was recovered a few meters away at around 10:48 am. Both were residents of Rongkhon Songgital, Tura.
The SDRF had retrieved the car bearing West Bengal registration WB 06 7718, Wagon R, yesterday.
The SDRF team has been stationed in flood-hit Dalu area since Friday following flash floods due to heavy rainfall.
