      Promises more development from Centre

BJP Mahila Morcha president Vanathi Srinivasan today stressed the need for more female candidates at the upcoming state election, which is due by March 2023.

“We are requesting the BJP state unit to give more opportunities to women candidates who are performers in the coming state election,” Srinivasan said at a press conference during her first visit to the state today.

Stating that there are lots of aspiring candidates in the Mahila Morcha, she said that they are helping them to reach out to the people and hold a large women’s conference with an eye on the polls.

Even though the winnibility factor is crucial for all candidates, the Mahila Morcha is training party office bearers on how to make women contestants more appealing to the voting public.

“I have come to see how the party Mahila Morcha is functioning in Meghalaya, the training for party workers and office bearers and also how the Mahila Morcha could help the BJP state unit to get more MLAs in the upcoming 2023 Assembly election,” she added.

Srinivasan further stressed that the Narendra Modi-led central government is giving top priority to women through various schemes, from opening bank accounts to free cooking gas connections.

Stating that these schemes should be taken to each and every household of Meghalaya, she said, “I have interacted with lots of womenfolk from Anganwadi to ASHA workers, women self-help groups, women entrepreneurs in the state since yesterday. I can see that goodwill is there among the women for Narendra Modi and the various schemes.”

Meanwhile, on a stop to Nongpoh, Srinivasan promised more development for the district and state from the central government.

She also met with the BJP’s district officers and party leaders in Nongpoh where she was welcomed by state party secretary Marian Maring.

Srinivasan said that the BJP is the victim of much slander but is devoted to helping the poor people of the country irrespective of caste or creed.

If the general public want to see improvements in the state, they should vote for the BJP in 2023, she added.
