Rituraj Sinha, national secretary of the BJP, today launched the party’s membership drive at the state party office to build up its vote base ahead of the 2023 Meghalaya election.
Also present were BJP national vice-president and official in charge of Meghalaya, M Chuba Ao, AL Hek MLA, BJP state president Ernest Mawrie and others.
Sinha claimed that the BJP has contributed greatly to the development of Meghalaya through various central government schemes and said that the people of the state are “eager and excited” to join the saffron party as they trust it to deliver further development.
He invited all the people of Meghalaya to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi “in his fight against corruption and in his pro-development agenda for the state” and quoted the slogan: “Modi for Development, BJP for Meghalaya”.
A few somewhat prominent people joined the party today, including Sukharam K Sangma, a former two-time MDC from the NPP; Elbert Marak, MDC candidate from the UDP; Dipul R Marak, ex-CEM from the NPP; Debajit Warjri, ex-Rangbah Shnong and retired Additional Secy of MeECL; Pradip Blah, Assistant Director of Sport at NEHU and Rangbah Dong of Golflink Durbar; VGK Kynta, senior advocate of the Meghalaya High Court; and Richesly Jana Nongbet, advocate.
