The Bharatiya Janata Party in Garo Hills has invited volunteers to constitute committees in each Garam Sevak circle to monitor implementation of central schemes.
State BJP Vice President and Tura MDC Bernard N Marak during his visit to villages under Rongram block today said there are many complaints from villagers that most of them do not benefit from the central schemes.
Marak said there are many villages under single Gram Sevak circle which were not included under JJM, PMAY, Saubhaggya, and PMGSY, etc.
“There are other villages which are in total darkness as their villages are yet to be electrified and they are not included under rural electrification and Saubhagya (Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana). Others complained about no road connectivity under PMGSY and lowly maintained road conditions. Elders above 60 years are not included under the old age pension schemes and the farmers are not getting any benefit from PM KISAN even after getting an ID,” he said.
While many of these villagers are living in kutcha houses and have not benefitted from the PMAY, Marak also stated that some kilos of free rice go missing every month from beneficiaries.
“The complaints indicated that there’s a need for proper coordination with the Gram Sevaks and the blocks else the villagers and beneficiaries are at a losing end,” he added.
He further said volunteers willing to monitor the implementation of the centre schemes can contact the party to coordinate in constitution of the committees.
