The president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Meghalaya unit, Ernest Mawrie, has appointed Justice Syiem as the new president of the BJP Meghalaya Kisan Morcha, it was announced today.
Syiem’s term will run until 2023.
He takes over from Pramod Koch, who recently became an MDC in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC). Koch’s loyalty to the BJP was then questioned by fellow members of the party after he gave his support to the National People’s Party-led executive committee.
