Baghmara MLA Kartush Marak yesterday visited places in his constituency that are sites of ongoing construction work for public projects.
This entailed visits to the police reserve, Captain Williamson Sangma Memorial College, Baghmara Government School, Public Works Department road at Dabram, check dam construction at Dabram and hanging bridge construction at Dabit.
Marak found that the construction work at the college premises was not up to the required standards or systematically done as cracks could be seen in the under-construction building and some classrooms did not have proper windows.
The MLA was completely dissatisfied, saying that students would suffer if they had to use such facilities. He said he intended to raise the matter with the Deputy Commissioner.
On visiting the Jongkol to Dabram road, it was found that work on a culvert is on hold as some locals were opposed to the construction. Marak informed that the matter will be discussed and resolved at the earliest.
Meanwhile, while visiting the check dam site, he expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of materials being used.
