Many a time, a pressure group will harangue the government over a dilapidated road.
This is not quite the case with the A’chik Organisation for Social Welfare (AOSW), which today have pleaded with the authorities to do something about the awful dust being kicked into the faces of the public by ongoing roadworks.
The road in question is between Williamnagar and Nengkra in East Garo Hills.
The publicity secretary of the district unit of the AOSW, Erica Banty R Marak, said today that the residents and commuters along the road are choking on the dust. A complaint has been registered with the Deputy Commissioner asking for water to be sprinkled on the road daily to stop the dust from flying about.
Marak added that the “public nuisance” caused by the dust violates the rights of the people.
