A group called Garo Hills Youth Solidarity (GHYS) has raised concern over the poor implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) at Megagre village in East Garo Hills.
According to the group the project is said to have been completed but majority households are left without water in the taps. “Out of 85 households, 70 households have no water in their JJM taps,” it said.
Though a complaint was made to the PHE department, no action has been taken so far, the GHYS said, adding, they will move court against the unresponsive attitude of the department.
The GHYS said sanctioning a beautiful central project with taps running dry is pointless. It also urged the department to intervene and ask the contractor concerned to address the poor implementation of the central scheme.
