A 22-year-old angler is feared to have drowned while fishing at Umngi River, South West Khasi Hills, on Sunday evening.
Police said that Sainkupar Lyngkhoi of Lawbyrtun, Eastern West Khasi Hills went fishing with three others at Umngi but at around 7pm he accidentally fell to the river.
The Search and Rescue Team along with the Fire and Emergency Service team, Mawkyrwat have reached the area and rescue operation is in progress.
