Cabinet minister and chairperson of the committee on the reservation policy and roster system, Ampareen Lyngdoh, will hammer out next steps with the other members of the committee and the different political parties, she informed today.
Political parties had been given until today to submit their queries either to the chairperson, the Chief Minister or the Chief Secretary.
These materials will be consolidated and the queries that have been put forward will be studied, Lyngdoh said, because before calling an expert committee the government believes that it must understand what are the questions asked by various parties.
This will not be a quick process, she added, as it has to be comprehensive.
The state government had constituted a search committee to identify members of the expert committee for reviewing the State Reservation Policy 1972.
The expert committee will review the state reservation policy by obtaining views from all stakeholders including political parties, NGOs and civil society organisations. The chairperson and members of the committee will consist of experts in constitutional law, economics, sociology, demographic studies and related fields.
