The All Meghalaya Minority Students’ Union (AMMSU) has sought for the dismissal of a Bachelor of Arts-qualified teacher who has been appointed to the role of an assistant science teacher.
The case is not a new one as the teacher of Gasbari Upgraded Upper Primary School, Korban Ali, has been in the role since 2004. The Joint District Mission Coordinator of Dadenggre sub-division had reappointed him in 2016 as well, despite Ali not being eligible for the post.
“He has been drawing the salary of a sanctioned post of assistant science teacher, under SSA, since 2004. This is most illegal and shows the manipulation and misuse of public money through cheating and providing false certificates,” said AMMSU President Nur Islam.
The NGO wrote to the authorities today for the immediate cancellation of the appointment as well as seeking a refund of the money paid to the teacher since he began to draw wages in 2004.
