Akashvani, formerly known as All India Radio, has announced sweeping changes to its North Eastern Service (NES) programming.
NES revamped its programmes on Saturday, a press release stated today, catering to all age groups in the North East with talks, interviews, features and music. Fixed timings and days have been allotted to the newly modified programmes – for children (Sundays at 1pm), youth (Wednesdays at 6:45pm), women (Saturdays at 1pm), senior citizens (Mondays at 1:30pm) and labourers (Fridays at 9:30pm).
Snippets from the North East (daily at 7:30am), success stories, start-up of the month (fourth Saturday of every month) and listeners; feedback (first Sunday of the month at 2:30pm in Hindi and second Tuesday of the month at 8:35am in English) are also being introduced, to engage a wider audience.
The NES was established in 1990 in Shillong, connecting the eight North East states through diverse programmes. The service can be found on FM 100.1 MHz from 6am to 10:30pm daily, on the newsonair mobile app or DTH platforms.
