The Adokgre regional unit of the A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) has written to the Chief Minister to bring his attention to the Ildik A’kong bridge and Adokgre-Mangsang road project, which have been left abandoned for several years now.
The bridge is one of the important crossings on the Adokgre-Mangsang road and the construction project began in 2019 at an estimated cost of Rs 12.29 crore. However, the project was abandoned “due to fund constraints by the state government,” AHAM said.
The road construction project itself was originally sanctioned at Rs 210 crore but this was then cut down to Rs 123 crore.
“Most of the time we feel detached and landlocked without our own state because there is no direct linkage to any headquarters in Meghalaya,” AHAM said, while calling for both the bridge and the road to be completed.
