Active cases of Covid-19 in Meghalaya dropped below 1,000 today for the first time since August.
With 63 new infections and 101 recoveries reported today, the number of active cases came down to 971.
This represents less than 10 percent of the total number of 9,741 coronavirus infections recorded in the state since the first back in April.
There have been a total of 8,680 recoveries and 90 fatalities from the disease.
Of the 101 recoveries, West Khasi Hills recorded 40, West Jaintia Hills 23, East Garo Hills 11, Ri-Bhoi 11, East Khasi Hills seven, West Garo Hills five, East Jaintia Hills three and North Garo Hills one.
Of the 63 new cases East Khasi Hills reported 19, Ri-Bhoi 11, East Jaintia Hills eight, West Jaintia Hills eight, West Garo Hills six, West Khasi Hills four, East Garo Hills three, South Garo Hills two, North Garo Hills one and South West Garo Hills one.
Although there was a slight increase in active cases in East Khasi Hills today, there has been, of late, a general decline in new infections in the district.
In the first three days of this month, the district has recorded 89 new infections compared to 200 in the other 10 districts of the state.
Part of the decline may be the reduced numbers of Covid tests being carried out since the second half of October.
Today only around 900 tests were carried out across Meghalaya.
