The A’chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has elected new office bearers, it announced in a press release.
In an “emergency meeting”, the executive leaders of the council “unanimously” elected Jack A Sangma as the new president, Happynews R Marak as general secretary, Panseng R Marak as vice-president and Sengkan A Sangma as assistant general secretary.
These names were also approved by the co-chairmen of all the ACHIK district units, the release added.
The election comes just days after ACHIK announced that it had suspended its former president Thomas M Marak, for alleged misuse of his position in charge of the pressure group. Marak had been told at the time that he would be given a suitable opportunity to counter the allegations against him.
