The A’chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has urged church leaders in the Garo Hills region to come up with a plan to engage youth in nation building with peace as the foundation.
In an appeal sent to the church leaders, ACHIK raised about reports of regrouping of the militant outfit Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA).
Though the organisation did not specifically mentioned about the militant outfit it referred to the “WT message”, a classified document informing about regrouping of the inactive GNLA.
It may be mentioned that the classified document is in circulation on social media and is seen as the biggest concern for Meghalaya, especially the Garo Hills region, which had for years now been living peacefully since its dreaded leader, Sohan D Shira was gunned down in 2018.
“Acknowledging your church has immense network across all Achik people beyond boundaries and in the light of the emergence of the W.T message which has gone viral in the social which has rang an alarm that these anti-social elements has to be rooted out from its root,” ACHIK said in the appeal, signed by all its four leaders.
The organisation said that since the church has a huge network the church leaders can take up counselling, youth leadership and prayers for the peace of the land.
The ACHIK made prayer requests for peace, justice and youth to shun gun violence. It also called on the church leaders to organise career counselling programmes.
“We look forward for you support in these troubled times so that we will achieve our goal to unite all Achiks beyond boundaries and become a blessing to all nations,” ACHIK said.
