The quiz was designed to challenge the bright minds among young students on topics such as Indian economy, official statistics, National Statistics Office (NSO) and the central government policies.

The quiz was conducted by Nicholas Jyrwa, a computer science lecturer. Thirteen teams from 11 city colleges participated in the preliminary round of the quiz.

St Anthony’s College general stream emerged as the winner while St Anthony’s statistics stream came second ahead of Sohra Government College. The first, second and third place finishers received Rs 10,000, Rs 6,000 and Rs 4,000 respectively along with medals and mementos.

The keynote address was presented by Orenthung Patton, Deputy Director of NSO (FOD), Shillong. He gave an exclusive insight on the work done by NSS over the past 75 years since its inception in 1950. He also highlighted the Vision 2030 document, which features the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) laid down by the United Nations to be met by our country by 2030 through quality data and statistics.
