The Eastern United Sports Club launched the Eastern United Knockout Football Tournament 2025 today at the Mairang Mission Ground in Eastern West Khasi Hills District.
The event aims to provide a platform for young football talents to showcase and hone their skills.
The tournament will feature 16 participating teams, with the opening match between Sawmer and Amigos marking an energetic start to the competition.
KHADC Executive Member and MDC of Mawthadraishan, Powell Sohkhlet inaugurated the tournament. In his speech, he encouraged participating youth to prioritise their health, engage in regular physical training, and to strive to become skilled athletes. He emphasised the importance of dedication, discipline, and avoiding harmful substances.
Sohkhlet noted the district’s progress in football, with teams already representing the region in the Meghalaya State League, and expressed hope that this tournament would serve as a stepping stone for young players to reach higher levels of the sport.
