The State government has paid compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the mother of a juvenile (child in conflict with law) who died at the Shillong Civil Hospital in March 2020.
The payment was made on the directions of the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) in its order on December 6, 2024.
The Director of Health Services (MI) through its letter in February, 2025 informed the commission that the amount was paid by cheque to the mother of the deceased in presence of officials of the health department and the MHRC.
