A farmer training programme on ‘Safe and Judicious Use of Organic Pesticides by Adopting IPM Practices’ was conducted today in Dakopgre, Tura.
It was organised by HIL (India) Ltd, a central government enterprise under the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, in collaboration with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tura.
The programme aimed to equip farmers with sustainable agricultural practices. The event witnessed the participation of 272 farmers from more than 20 different villages of West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills.The training emphasised the safe and effective use of bio-pesticides, integrated pest management (IPM) and practical strategies to enhance productivity while ensuring environmental sustainability.
As part of the initiative, all farmers were provided with safety kits to ensure the safe handling and spraying of bio-pesticides. Through a blend of scientific insights and practical demonstrations, farmers were armed with tools and knowledge to improve productivity, reduce chemical dependency and secure their livelihoods, a press release said today.
