The Khooid Ya ka Wah Myntdu (KYM), waheh shnongs, village elders and SDO (PHE Electrical) R. Challam  inspected the drinking water supply in Jowai town today.

The inspection covered various water tanks at Dongmisngi, Lumkyndong, Moolikso, Mynthong and Khimmusniang.

During the inspection, the water supply and sanitation facilities were assessed. The leaders found there were no issues in the supply of water from the tanks and appreciated the PHE department for ensuring clean water supply.

The waheh shnong of Khimmusniang said the water sourced from Myntdu river is clean during the winter season but gets polluted in the summer months with the onset of rain and wanton sand and stone mining as well as road construction.

Village elder J.M Pohsngap said the PHE could source the water from the Umngot river in the summer season, which is comparatively cleaner that the waters of Myntdu.

Another elder, G.H. Bareh urged the residents to join hands in keeping the Myntdu river clean by not dumping any waste or garbage.
