The Western Zone unit of the Jaiñtia National Council (JNC) met Mowkaiaw MLA Nujorki Sungoh to raise issues of critical importance in the Block 1 border areas of West Jaintia Hills.
Specifically, these issues included conducting census in hitherto unsurveyed villages, road connectivity, electricity connections and healthcare services.
Villages like Khadkhasla, Psiar, Mowluber, Skap Mowput, Chnong Thymmei, Mowjem and Madan Nangkylla “urgently require” upgraded roads. The JNC also wants each village to be given an ambulance for emergency medical care.
Villages like Mowluber, Skap Mowput, Chnong Thymmei, Mowjem and Madan Nangkylla also lack electricity, the JNC said.
Villagers in Mowluber, Skap Mowput, Mowjem, Mowlain and Madan Nangkylla have not been included in the national census, “which implies that the government lacks vital information about the people living in these border areas,” it added.
