Baitlang Pohsngap has decided to contest the upcoming elections of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) as an independent candidate from South Jowai constituency.
He made the announcement today after the Voice of the People Party (VPP) denied him a ticket to contest the polls.
“I have nothing to say about the decision of the election committee of VPP but since the day the ticket was decided by the party for South Jowai constituency I was very disturbed and that is why I decided to come to the media to announce that I will not give up and that I will contest the election as an independent candidate,” Pohsngap said.
He also said that he had sought information from people of South Jowai if the VPP had carried out any survey before deciding the ticket from the constituency.
“As far as I know, there was no such survey. Even there were no units of the party in the constituency,” Pohsngap added.
He also appealed to the people of South Jowai constituency to support him in the upcoming election.
