A driver was injured when a truck he was driving rammed into a parked truck along National Highway 6 at 12 Mer in Ri Bhoi district today.
Hanpaia Laloo of Rakabab village in West Jaiñtia Hills District was on his way to Guwahati driving his truck bearing registration number ML11 A1436, laden with clinker. However at around 4: 30 am he lost control of the vehicle and dashed against the rear-end of another truck NL 01 AD 5135 driven by one Neverson Shadap, that was parked along the highway.
Police, along with rescue teams and personnel from the Fire & Emergency Service, managed to extricate Hanpaia, stuck inside the heavily damaged front of the vehicle, after nearly two hours.
He was then shifted to Guwahati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) for medical treatment.
