A field day was organised for farmers at Mawbri village yesterday on the benefits of a high yield maize variety.
The programme was attended by 30 farmers and experts from ICAR. The programme was conducted to show the performance of a maize variety that is suitable for cultivation on lower hills.
Subject matter specialist Meghna Sarma Bhoi briefed the farmers about the cultivation package of the variety and encouraged them to adopt such a variety for the next season to boost their livelihoods.
There was also a demonstration of a maize sheller, which is a more efficient and cost effective way of removing maize kernels from the cob compared to manually removing them by hand.
