Eastern West Khasi Hills police has announced a “comprehensive enforcement” campaign to ensure motorists adhere to the traffic rules and regulations.
“This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to enhance road safety like wearing of helmets and reduce traffic violations like usage of unauthorized black tinted films, blinkers and flash lights, sirens, retrofitted exhaust pipes etc,” Superintendent of Police, Maxwell B Syiem said.
He said the police will be conducting regular patrols and checkpoints throughout the district and offender(s) will face strict penalties as per the provisions of law.
The police have urged all vehicle owners and drivers to comply with the traffic rules and regulations to avoid inconvenience and contribute to the safety and well-being of all road users and also sought the support and cooperation of the public in this regard.
