No leads have yet been found in the mysterious case of severed body belonging to a dead man found near a drain on Bivar Road in the heart of Shillong.
More than three weeks has passed since a skull, upper torso and other remains besides apparels were found inside the drain on May 22.
Police have still failed to make any headway in this and today issued a ‘hue and cry’ notice calling for identification and claims of the mortal remains.
The recovered body parts have been sent to NEIGRIHMS for medical examination.
Based on clothing found with the remains, it is suspected that the victim was male, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Rituraj Ravi said.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Rituraj Ravi said per the report the fragmented skeletal apparels belonged to a person between the ages 30-40 years, with 145-160 cm in height.
The person reportedly died between two to six weeks back, he added.
Police found a black coloured coat, black, brown and white coloured checked shirt and a light blue coloured checked shirt with fur inside. Other items were a small maroon coloured mirror, a comb and a green lime container containing tobacco.
