NDA voters of Shillong South are far sighted, says Sanbor

Despite the loss of NPP candidate from the Shillong parliamentary seat, BJP MLA from South Shillong constituency Sanbor Shullai today called the electorates of his constituency who voted in favour of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as “far sighted and visionary”.

It may be mentioned that the NPP which is part of the BJP-led NDA lost the recent Lok Sabha election in 32 Assembly constituencies under Shillong parliamentary seat. It won only in four constituencies including Shillong South.

Shullai said that even after 52 years of Meghalaya’s statehood, political ambitions are still not justified.

“We should be matured when it comes to making political decisions and if it specially involves our future generation. We shouldn’t stall our development for vote bank politics,” he said.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech has clearly stated that out of the ten tribal dominated states including Christian majority states, majority of them are ruled by the NDA,” he added.

Stating that local issues should not be deterred by religious sentiments, Shullai specified that there has never been an incident where any religious community in Meghalaya has been sidelined by the BJP.

“As a matter of fact, Amit Shah during his last visit in Shillong had asked party workers to reach out to our church leaders. However, it was sad to see during this election that fake and purported videos which had nothing to do with our State dominated the issue and were widely spread to create mistrust. However, the electorates of South Shillong have proven once again they are aligned with the pro development movement,” Shullai said.

Shullai today celebrated with his party workers in the constituency the swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for the third term.

He also congratulated BJP workers across the country for giving a strong fight against the opposition. He also extended his well wishes to both the newly elected MPs from Meghalaya and expressed hopes that they would meet the aspirations of the State and its people.

Shullai said that he firmly believed that Modi would be able to live up to the expectations of the nation and ensure that all communities, irrespective of caste, creed, religion and gender will be taken care of by the new government at the Centre.
