A man was found guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in a case going back 16 years and sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment.
The Court of the Session Judge in Jowai convicted Herman Shyllai on May 8 and also sentenced him to two months of simple imprisonment. The court also ordered that compensation of Rs 3 lakh be paid to the next of kin of the victim.
Shylla killed one Lang Pale on February 17, 2008. The case was investigated by Sub-Inspector M Myrboh, with Shylla eventually being convicted under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code.
