The Meghalaya unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a right-wing students organisation, has expressed deep concern over alleged discrepancies during Sunday’s NEET Undergraduate 2024 examination held in Jowai.
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test is for pre-medical aspirants.
In a similar situation reported from Nongpoh, students in Jowai were given two sets of question papers, each featuring different sets of questions.
“This unforeseen circumstance has instigated widespread panic and confusion among the candidates,” the ABVP said in a release today.
In addition, the candidates’ admit cards were not collected by the invigilator at the examination centre, which is usual practice. Instead, only after the students left (and some had reached their homes) were they summoned back to the centre to submit their admit cards, which the ABVP said caused even more confusion and panic among the students.
“In light of these distressing developments, the ABVP earnestly calls upon the National Testing Agency (NTA) to provide immediate clarification regarding the rationale behind the distribution of two distinct sets of question papers for the same examination. Furthermore, the ABVP seeks clarification on the authenticity of each set of questions and implores the NTA to elucidate which set is deemed correct and which is incorrect,” the students organisation said.
If it is confirmed that the question papers were different, the ABVP called for affected students to be able to re-sit the exam.
