Secretary of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Rosetta Mary Kurbah has suggested the department to leverage on social media platforms to raise awareness about hygiene and veterinary-related issues among the public.
Addressing a programme to mark the World Veterinary Day here, organised by the Meghalaya State Veterinary Council, she emphasised the often-overlooked role of the veterinary department in public health policies.
Kurbah stressed the importance of collaboration between the health and veterinary departments to address preventive and curative aspects of diseases. She advocated for a shift towards prevention rather than cure, echoing successful approaches adopted in the health sector.
Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister, A.L Hek commended the department’s efforts in ensuring public health through the distribution of veterinary products.
He stressed on the importance of sincerity and responsibility in sustaining the department’s operations and advocated for building a strong brand image for the veterinary department.
Hek also highlighted the potential of the department in creating employment opportunities for the state, emphasising on the need for diligent and effective work practices.
