Meghalaya Police will soon carry out one of its biggest recruitment drives to fill around 3,100 police posts.
The expected date for the advertisement will be in a day or two, with online applications to begin on April 1.
This was informed by Inspector General of Police FG Kharshiing, who also chairs the recruitment board, during a press briefing here today.
There are 76 posts to be filled for unarmed branch Sub-Inspectors, 1,255 unarmed branch constables (which include firemen, etc), mechanics, signals operators, etc. There are also 1,637 posts in the armed branch.
To reach out “in a better manner” to potential recruits, five different centres at different battalion headquarters will be utilised for the recruitment process, Kharshiing said.
Police recruitment has often been controversial, with accusations of government ministers pushing for applicants from their constituency or others they favour to be hired. Asked if there will be transparency, Kharshiing said that the application process will be purely electronic and based on a technical evaluation, so it will be impossible to manipulate the results.
