Editor,
With a rise in phishing scams, vigilance is important. Recently, there were media reports of deceptive SMS messages, claiming to be from the State Bank of India (SBI) insisting on users to update their PAN card to prevent their SBI YONO account on the mobile app from being blocked.
SBI account holders should be alert about these misleading SMS messages since SBI doesn’t request personal details via messages or calls.
People who receive such messages should ignore them and not respond. SBI doesn’t solicit personal details via messages or calls. We should refrain from sharing banking info in response to emails to avoid scams. These scams often create urgency, pushing users to click on links and input sensitive info, exploited by scammers to steal money.
It is important that we remain cautious. Ignoring suspicious messages and reporting incidents are vital steps in protecting against phishing scams. We should verify before sharing personal or banking details to keep our bank account safe from potential fraud.
